Change Leadership Capabilities:

Fundamental to the successful implementation of organisational change by its leaders is their change leadership capability. Change waits for no leader, and the skills required for leading day-to-day operations are very different for change leadership. Our approach focuses on using experiential learning through a change case study where the leadership team gets to assess, select and implement their chosen change tactics through three simulation change phases: Plan, Execute and Sustain. As a result, the leadership team is equipped with change leadership knowledge, experience, change management models, and tools that will enable them to be successful in leading to organisational change and transformations. They will become more aware of how to manage stakeholder resistance, expectations, and feelings as they try to achieve their organisation's vision and employee change adoption.

Five Capability Phases:

1. Facilitator presents the leadership business simulation case study:

  • Business Simulation Case Study: The workshop participants will work on the implementation of a new business system instigated by the Board of Directors after recent operating results indicate the competition is performing better as a result of utilising technology and implementing accelerated change.

  • Head of Change: The participants will work in teams to play the Head of Change role, working with 13 key stakeholders and an external partner to successfully implement change. The learning app will support and track each team’s progress through the workshop.

2. Understand 13 Stakeholder Roles and Their Personalities:

  • 13 Stakeholders: There are 13 key stakeholders, including an external partner, who hold key roles in successful organisational change implementation. Each stakeholder will have their own personalities, motivations, and thoughts on how change should be implemented.

  • Stakeholder Reaction to Change: Individual stakeholders will react differently to the change tactics each team chooses, which could be negative, neutral, or positive. The learning app will provide each stakeholder profile and their specific reaction to how the change is being implemented.

3. Each Team Discusses, and then Implements their Change Tactic:

  • Each Team Discusses All Change Tactic: There are ten rounds, and at the start of each round, four change concepts are presented. Each team discusses, tests, and selects their preferred change tactic, which are also embedded videos in the learning app.

  • Implement the Selected Change Tactics: After each team discusses the four change tactics they agree and select the change tactic they consider will reduce stakeholder change resistance and have a positive impact on change implementation.

4. Reflect on How Stakeholders React to Chosen Change:

  • Reflect on Change Tactics Success: At the end of each round, the stakeholders reactions to each team’s chosen change tactic will be revealed in the learning app. The reasons for each stakeholder reaction (negative, neutral, or positive) can be understood.

  • Learning Progress and Team Scores: The app will also record each team’s selected change tactic, why they chose it, the learning points, and score progress.

5. Receive a Credential and Apply Learning Back in the Workplace:

  • Leadership of Change® Digital Credential Badge: You will receive the Leadership of Change® digital credential/badge which can be added to you LinkedIn profile.

  • Immediately Apply the Learning Back in the Workplace: Change leadership skills, knowledge and self-awareness can be applied on new, real organisational changes back in the workplace the next day.

"Organisations with superior change leadership capability stay ahead in the marketplace"

Develop Change Leadership Skills, Knowledge, and Self-Awareness in a 1-Day Workshop

About the Workshop:

  • Focus: Change leadership learning the ten key steps that support successful organisational change implementation.

  • Change Leadership Experiential Learning: This is a fascinating change management implementation business simulation that offers leadership teams and leaders of change experiential learning in a safe environment. This enables them to learn, discuss, test and reflect on their change leadership knowledge, skills and self-awareness.

  • Case Study: AutoChanze™ is a global supplier of automotive systems, modules, and components to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and related aftermarkets. Up until recently they have been a successful and profitable organisation, but a recent report commissioned by the Board of Directors has indicated the automotive industry will be impacted by 4IR like never before!

  • Learning Objective: During the simulation, the change leaders (in their teams) will focus on how they can achieve the balance between normal day-to-day operations and delivering successful change and employee adoption of a new IT system. They will assess, select and implement their chosen change tactics through three simulation change phases: Plan, Execute and Sustain. They will be scored on how successful their tactics were in implementing successful change.
